In the past, organizations using AIP labels to protect sensitive documents needed to deploy the AIP client to make the functionality to encrypt and decrypt files available to Office apps. The change is important if you want to apply mandatory labeling for documents and messages. What happening is a gradual transfer of functionality from the Azure Information Protection (AIP) unified labeling client to native support in the Office applications.
